Friday Five: Autumn Activities

Friday Five: Autumn Activities

Happy Friday! We made it – FINALLY! It is officially the first weekend of fall!  Actually, the first day of fall is like September 22, buuuuut September, October, and November are considered fall in my book.

Also, it’s 2020, which apparently means just about anyone can do whatever they want!

Anyway, a few weeks ago I talked about all of the fun fall activities I was looking forward to doing with my kiddos this year.  I still plan on checking each of those fall activities off of my list, but I thought I’d cut that down to the top-five fall “must-do’s”.  Now, you may notice there isn’t a single mention of a pumpkin on this list and that is because I consider pumpkins to be more of an October activity.  To me, apples scream September.

Friday Five: Autumn Activities

Apple Picking

Classic fall activity, am I right?  I’m much more into the apple flavor of fall than the pumpkin flavor.

Find a local apple orchard and get to pickin’.  It’s so much fun and makes for adorable pictures (and that’s really what it’s all about, right?)

S'mores

I love a good bon fire on a crisp fall night (except smelling like smoke for the rest of the night).  With that being said, it’s almost criminal to have a bon fire without s’mores.

Grab some roasting sticks, marshmallows, all the fixin’s and get to roastin’.

Apple Cider

I love apple cider.  The smell…the taste…delicious.

I am trying my hand at making my own apple cider this year.  I think this is the recipe I am going to start with.  If you aren’t a fan of making your own, I bet your local orchard makes apple cider.  You can cross apple picking & apple cider of your list at the same time.  Efficiency is everything.

Autumn Hike

Fall is the perfect time to go for a hike.  The foliage is gorgeous, all the bugs have disappeared, and, most importantly, it’s not hot and humid.

Pack a snack and get out and enjoy the beautiful weather before it’s time to complain about the cold.

Fall Scented Candles

Hands-down my favorite candles are the Bath & Body Works candles.  They have a stronger scent than any other candle (even better than Yankee Candle in my opinion) and if you can catch their sales you can get them for around $10 a piece.

Since I burn candles so much, I go through them rather quickly.  I don’t always want to drop a lot of money on the Bath & Body works candles when they aren’t on sale, so I love to go to Marshall’s and TJ Maxx to find marked down candles.

More Autumn Activities

I forced myself to edit my fall favorite list down to five things for this post, but their are a whole slew of things to do during the autumn season.

Until next time,

Julie
