A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about my struggles with anxiety. It was pretty well received, so I thought I should spend a little more time talking about the things that help me when I am feeling anxious. Positive Thinking is a BIG one. Since a lot of my anxiety centers around intrusive thoughts, it is important that I try my best to keep a positive mind. There are several different ways to push away the negative and pull in the positive.
Some of those ways include: Reading a nice book (no smut, no suspense – sorry!), listing things I am grateful for or things that make me happy (both listing in my head and on paper work great), watching a TV sitcom (cough, I love Tim Allen, cough), listening to an uplifting podcast, and/or reading quotes for anxiety.
I have always loved a good quote. There is just something about quotes that makes me feel understood, like someone out there really gets me…anyone else? It could be just me…but I don’t don’t think so because Pinterest is flooded with quotes. There is a quote for any type of feeling/experience/life event/mood that you may have/had/or will have.
I’ve listed 5 of my favorite anxiety related quotes. If these five don’t resonate with you, I want to encourage you to find some that do. Once you find them, pin them to your Pinterest boards, screenshot them in your phone, print them and hang them at your desk at work. The point is to put them somewhere easy to find, so you can access them when you need them.
Favorite Quotes for Anxiety

I mean…what if? What if you have to experience this in order to get ready for what you have always wanted? For me, difficult times are easier to deal with if I feel like there is a purpose behind them.

I have control over what I think about. This reaffirms that all the work it takes keep things positive will all be worth it. Positive in = Positive out.

People who don’t suffer from anxiety, don’t get it. It isn’t their fault, they just can’t. Sometimes it take all of your effort just to comb your hair, brush your teeth, and go to work. Sometimes it is a victory just to get out of bed. Only YOU know what YOU are feeling, so as long as YOU did the best YOU could for that day and YOU are proud, well that is ALL THAT MATTERS!

Like I said, I really experienced a lot of intrusive thoughts. When I came across this quote it really struck a cord. Just because something pops into my head doesn’t mean I am going to do it, that I want to do it, or that I have done it. Thoughts are just thoughts.
