Fun & Festive Halloween Treats

Fun & Festive Halloween Treats

There is nothing I love more than a good theme.  Decorations, festive snacks, themed outfits – what could be better?! Lucky for me, ’tis the season for spooky sweets and ghostly goodies! Halloween is one of my f a v o r i t e times of the year.  There are endless opportunities to let your creativity flag fly! I thought it would be fun to give you some Halloween inspiration with a few of my favorite fun and festive Halloween treats!

Halloween Treat Requirements:

Any good Halloween treat uses at least one the following ingredients:

  • Candy Melts
  • Candy Eyeballs
  • Festive Sprinkles
There are so many fun & festive things you can do with any combination of these ingredients.  Everything listed above can be found at any craft store, like Hobby or Michael’s.

My 3 Favorite Halloween Treats!

Monster/Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

These cute little guys are SUPER simple to make.  Either whip up a batch of Rice Krispie treats OR buy one of those Party Size Rice Krispie Treats and cut it up into several small servings.  I like to go the Party Size route when I am short on time.  You can pop a stick in them (as pictured) or leave them without, both cute, both delicious!

Halloween Pretzel Rods

These pretzel rods are always a crowd pleaser! When I feel like kickin’ it up a notch I turn them into chocolate dipped caramel pretzels – so, so good!

A few tips for working with Candy Melts

  • Add a little bit of shortening to thin the Candy Melts out to the desired consistency.
  • Let the Candy Melts harden just slightly before adding the sprinkles, eyeballs, etc.  This will help prevent the toppings from slipping and sliding so much.
  • Always place on parchment paper to harden.

Chocolate Eyeball Cookies

These spooky guys are by far the easiest of the 3 treats to make.  They are a cross between a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie – my idea of the perfect marriage!  I found this recipe on Lovetobeinthekitchen.com and have made it several times since.  Super yummy and the kids will have fun adding the eyeballs!

I hope you enjoy my favorite Halloween treats.

Give them a try and let me know how you like them!
