Valentine's Day Garland

I think I have officially found the perfect way to utilize Christmas cards after the Christmas season.

Drum roll…

Use them as Valentine’s Day decorations! I had this idea last year (Christmas 2019), but accidentally threw away all of my Christmas cards when I took down Christmas (oops).

Side Note: What are you supposed to do with Christmas cards anyway?  Save them forever?  Throw them away?

Anyway, this year we weren’t home for Christmas, so I didn’t have the opportunity to throw them away too soon.

The garland turned out super cute and was simple to make.  I simply cut hearts out of red and pink card stock,  cut my Christmas cards into slightly smaller heart shapes, then taped them to a long piece of twine.

Voila! I love it!

Valentine's Day Breakfast

We are a cinnamon roll family 100%.  We love a good cinnamon roll.  Here are 2 adorable and easy Valentine-themed cinnamon rolls that are sure to make anyone happy on Valentine’s Day.

The first cinnamon rolls I want to share are these heart-shaped cinnamon rolls.  They are made by unrolling  store bought Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, then re-rolling them into a heart shape.  I used 1 drop of red food coloring in the container of icing to make it pink (However, using pink food coloring would be better), then added sprinkles.

The red cinnamon rolls involved a little more effort, but I mean, look at them! So pretty!!

I used the recipe from The Girl Who Ate Everything (here).  The only exception I made to her exact recipe was that I used her recipe for Cinnabon Copycat Cinnamon Rolls (here) for the cinnamon/sugar filling.  I like a lot of cinnamon and sugar.

I did steps 1-4 the night before.  The next morning I stuck them in the oven and they turned out great.  The only thing to note is that they were a little hard the next day, so just eat them all the first day and you are golden!

Valentine's Day Decor

Valentine’s Day isn’t a huge holiday in our house, but I still like to make it fun.  Honestly,  the little holidays are what usually end up being the most fun anyway.

Less stress + Fewer expectations = More fun!

Once I made my Valentine garland I knew I needed to create a very Valentine-y space for my masterpiece to go in.  I tried to utilize as many things I already had on hand as possible. The felt heart garland I found in my decoration bin (score!), the candle, and the plaid napkins in the closet.  I ended up buying flowers when I was at the grocery store (I love buying myself flowers).  Lastly, I created a few simple Valentine-themed designs, printed them, and framed them in inexpensive frames.

Everything turned out so cute!
