The Perfect Snow Day
Hi friends! Is it snowing where you are? Here in southern Indiana, we don’t usually get snow until January or February. This year we had an unusual holiday season with a nice bit of snow the week before Christmas. I can’t remember the last time we had a white Christmas, so it was a pleasant surprise!
We are well into January at this point and I am looking forward to one more big snow. That’s all I need. One big beautiful blanket of snow. After a few days of snowy fun then I’m ready for spring. Yep, one more snow is enough for me.
Since I have my fingers crossed for one, and only one, more snow day I need to make sure it’s the best snow day ever! For me, the perfect snow day has a nice mix of indoor and outdoor activities, a few sweet treats, and all things cozy.
How To HaveThe Perfect Snow Day
Slow wake up. Back in the day, a snow day didn’t mean sleeping in. It meant waking up at your regular time and staring at that little ribbon along the bottom of the television screen while hoping and praying you would see your school district listed. Nowadays, you have an alert sent directly to your phone, and in most cases know the night before, so take advantage of that and have a slow start. Maybe wake up to the scent of cinnamon rolls permeating throught he house?
Play in the snow. Get outside and play! Go sledding, make snow angels, have a snowball fight, go on a winter walk, make snow marbles – do it all!! Stay outside until you are frozen to the bone!
Warm up. Now it’s time for a defrost. Hot chocolate, a warm meal, dry clothes, and comfy blankets. You gotta be super cold to truly appreciate and enjoy the warming process.
Get cozy. Get snuggled on the couch. Take a bubble bath. Put on your coziest pajamas. Make a bit of snow ice cream. Plop down on the couch and enjoy the fact that you don’t have to go to school/work for the rest of the day!
