Happy Friday! As we get closer and closer to Halloween, it’s more important than ever to double-down on the Halloween fun! Today I am sharing five easy Halloween crafts for preschoolers. Each one cuter than the last.
These crafts aren’t just easy and festive, but fun too. Your kids will love them!
Easy Halloween Crafts for Preschoolers
1. Monster Straw Painting
Monster Straw Painting was inspired by Simple Everyday Mom. My kids loved this super simple craft project.
Straw painting doesn’t have to be limited to cute monsters. This method would work great for ghosts, rainbows, lava from a volcano, and/or just simple abstract art.
Place a small drop of paint on a sheet of construction paper.
Use straw to blow paint around the paper.
Feel free to vary the size of the drops of paint. Also, don’t be afraid to mix paint colors.
Place googly eyes on wet paint to hold in place.
2. Paper Plate Mummy
This Paper Plate Mummy is the perfect mess-free craft project for your preschooler. I made a pumpkin with this method a few weeks ago. Check out Easy Pumpkin Crafts for Kids for more details.
Use hole punch to punch holes around the perimeter of the plate.
Glue large googley eyes to the plate for the eyes.
Use tape to secure string to the back of plate, as well as on the other end of the string to prevent unraveling.
Lace string through the holes to create the “mummy” look.
3. Puffy Pumpkin Slime
Slime is always a crowd-pleaser, which is why it had to be on my list of easy Halloween crafts for preschoolers. Our Puffy Pumpkin Slime recipe was from I Heart Arts N Crafts. It is the perfect consistency for slime. My kids loved it! It has become a frequently requested activity at our house.
Sticking with the Halloween theme, this Puffy Slime could be kept white to represent a ghost or green for Frankenstein. Adjust the face on the jar accordingly.
Pour 1/2 C of glue into bowl with 4 C of shaving cream.
Stir until throughly combined.
Add food coloring and stir to desired color.
add 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1 Tbls saline then stir.
Continue to add 1 Tbls of saline at a time until slime is no longer sticking to your hands.
Store in mason jar.
4. Contact Paper Ghost
Happy Toddler Playtime gave me the idea for this contact paper ghost, truly an easy halloween craft for preschoolers.
As with most of the other crafts, this method lends itself to so many other themes. Draw a tree on the contact paper and stick leaves from the yard to it, use green tissue paper to make a frankenstein, and/or make an abstract sun-catcher. The possibilities are endless. Check out Happy Toddler Club who has 30+ “sticky wall” activities.
Cut out bat and ghost shapes. *I used the Halloween cookie cutters from my Halloween pancakes to make this part easier.
Tape cut outs onto a sheet of paper.
Paint over the cut outs.
Once done painting, remove cut outs and you are left with a cute Halloween design.
Need More Halloween?
If you are anything like me, once you get started with Halloween projects it’s almost impossible to stop! Lucky for you I’ve got several more Halloween posts to keep you busy for the rest of the season.
