Happy Sunday! Nothing about this past week went according to plan. NOTHING! Why not continue that pattern and skip a weekly recap post? Honestly, not much happened last week that was “recap worthy” anyway. So, I am sharing how I made this super simple, super creepy DIY Halloween wreath!
I’m usually a “wait until October 1st for Halloween decorations” kind of person, but I just couldn’t get this craft off of my mind. So, I dipped my toe into the Halloween spirit…and, I gotta say, I loved it! Grant and I usually go all out with Halloween decorations. In fact, I think we have more Halloween decorations stored in the basement than Christmas decorations. Since Grant is gone this year, I wasn’t sure I was going to have it in me. However, after this craft, I think I am going to be juuuuuuuust fine getting in the Halloween spirit.
This DIY Halloween wreath has been in the back of my mind for awhile now. I bought the grapevine wreath last year (or the year before) specifically for this project. It has just been collecting dust in the basement. Somehow, the stars aligned this week and I got my DIY Halloween Wreath done and I am super proud of the outcome.
DIY Halloween Wreath
This DIY Halloween wreath is a super-easy craft project. Even the least artsy person can put this together and have it look amazing! Those are the projects I like best – simple with a huge impact! It requires very few supplies and very little crafting ability.
Okay, let’s get started!
DIY Halloween Wreath Supplies:
(contains affiliate links)
- Grapevine Wreath. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby several years ago, but this one is similar (https://amzn.to/3cBGh4P)
- Rubber Snakes. The snakes I purchased are currently out of stock, but these are similar (https://amzn.to/3374vAu). If I were to make this wreath again I would buy 2 different styles of snakes to give it a slightly more interesting look.
- Matte Black Spray Paint
- Hot Glue Gun
Directions:
- Use spray paint to paint wreath and snakes. I left the tongues red, but tried to cover everything else in black paint. Allow them to fully dry.
- Attach snakes to wreath. I found it worked best to wrap the snakes around and through the grapevines, however some required hot glue to secure in place.
- Don’t be afraid to use a lot of hot glue. It’s okay if you can see some of the hot glue. You can cover it up later.
- Once the snakes are placed, secure, and dry, check to see if any areas need a little more black paint. Give the wreath one more coat of spray paint. Try to cover any hot glue or spots on the snakes you may have missed.
- Hang and enjoy!
DIY Bat Decor
The space where I wanted to place the wreath needed a little something else. I went outside and collecteed a few sticks that had fallen from the trees in my yard. I made sure to cut them to the size I needed.
Once the sticks were done, I found two different bat drawings online. I put a white sheet of paper over the screen and traced them, but you could easily just print them out. I then traced them onto black cardstock.
After they were all traced and cut I staped string to the back of each bat to make a loop. All that was left was to hang them on the sticks I collected earlier.
More Halloween Fun
Looking to get festive this Halloween season? One of my favorite things to do is to make these cute Halloween Treats. They are always a hit at any party and simple to make.
Also, these easy pumpkin crafts could easily be turned into Jack-O-Lantern’s to give them that spooky edge.
