My Favorite YouTube Channels (January 2020)

My Favorite YouTube Channels (January 2020)

Hi!

It is hard to believe January is almost over.  This month has been a whirlwind.  Grant has been in Hawaii for training since January 4th, which means I have been home with the kids…alone!  Thankfully, I was able to go to Hawaii (without my kids) for an entire week (expect a Hawaiian vacation post soon).  It was an AMAZING trip, but I’d be lying if I said juggling the work/life balance as a “single parent” when I got home was easy.  It has definitely been a little more difficult than anticipated.  No need to fear though, Grant will be back next weekend and life will get back to normal (fingers crossed).

However, due to the craziness of life, I haven’t had time to work on my blog.  I know, I know – you have time for what you make time for, so maybe a better reason for slacking off is that blogging just wasn’t a priority.  Survival (and vacation) has been the priority!

I have a few posts drafted, but they still need a little more work.  I hate going too long between posts, so I thought I’d pop up a quick post about my favorite YouTube channels.

I’ve heard rumblings that some people have never watched YouTube videos before. How? Why? The concept of not watching YouTube just doesn’t process in my brain.  I realize this sounds dramatic, but I am a dramatic person.

Why I Watch YouTube

I mean, who doesn’t watch YouTube (aside from those previously mentioned few)?  It’s free, readily available at any time, millions of topics covered by thousands of different content creators, and did I mention it’s free?

Honestly, I probably watch more YouTube videos than I do anything else

*makes note to start a YouTube channel*

I started watching YouTube videos when I got engaged.  I didn’t want to pay someone to do my makeup (hi, budget), so I thought I could teach myself how to create a flawless face by watching beauty tutorials.  To make a long story short, I ended up paying someone to do my makeup, but I continued to watch YouTube videos regularly.  I still continue to watch YouTube regularly, in fact its one of the quickest ways to improve my mood

Anyway, I thought it might be fun to list out my favorite YouTube channels in case anyone else was interested in finding someone new to watch.

YouTube Channels

My Favorite YouTube Channels

Favorite "Beauty" Channels

  • Nicole Guerriero – ABSOLUTE FAVORITE – I have been watching Nicole for over 7  years and I still drop what I am doing to watch her new videos when I get the notification.  She is a “beauty influencer”, but my favorite videos of hers are her Halloween tutorials and her vlogs.
  • Jaclyn Hill – Jaclyn was the first YouTuber I started watching.  She does absolutely beautiful makeup.  Her brand has BLOWN UP in the past few years, so she doesn’t post quite as many videos as she used to.
  • Jeffree Star – If you have never heard of Jeffree Star before, I encourage you to watch this video series, The Secret World of Jeffree Star.  He is one of the most successful beauty guru’s on YouTube and has created a makeup empire to go along with it.
  • Kandee Johnson – Possibly the most positive and kind person on YouTube.   She doesn’t post videos as often as she used to, but any of her videos, even the older ones, are worth watching.
  • Manny MUA – Sassy and fun.
  • Caroline Hirons – Caroline focuses on skincare, not makeup, but I consider that to be “beauty” related.  I mean, what good is makeup without pretty skin? Caroline has made me fall in love with skincare.  Before watching her videos, check out her Skincare Routine Cheat Sheet It will help you better understand what she is talking about.

Favorite "Gardening" Channel

  • Garden Answer – Laura is the Martha Stewart of the garden (minus the crimes and the jail time).  My Romance the Ordinary post was inspired by her.  Watch her videos and I promise you will fall in love with her, her family, and gardening.  She posts 4-5 times a week, which is another bonus!

Favorite "Lifestyle" Channels

  • Shane Dawson – Everyone loves Shane & Ryland (listed below). Shane tends to make fewer videos, but the videos he does make are LONG.  Recently he has been focusing on more documentary style videos, which are so fun to watch (& addicting).
  • Ryland Adams – Ryland posts weekly and is someone to watch if you want to be in a good mood.  His videos are always lighthearted and fun.
  • Morgan Adams – Sister to Ryland, fun to watch.
  • Gabbie Hanna – People seem to LOVE her or HATE her.  I LOVE her.  She started YouTube as a “storytime” channel, but strayed away from that to focus on other things, such as music.

I hope this list gave you a few new channels to check out.  Leave your favorite YouTube channels in the comment section.  I am always ready to discover new channels!

Until next time,

Julie

My kids watch YouTube Kids and sort of go off and do their own thing. I should probably pay a little more attention, but I know with the security settings they should be pretty safe. I know they like Blippi and Ryans Toy Review.
      Thanks for stopping by!!

Really interesting… I feel like I’m always so behind! I don’t watch YouTube and I don’t listen to podcasts! I’m like, 80 years old!
