Hi guys! I’m still going strong with my DIY Halloween costume challenge! This week I am showing you how I made this DIY Fred Flintstone Costume for my son. I absolutely love how it turned out!
A few months ago we watched the 1994 movie The Flintstones for our family movie night. My kids loved it (which I found to be hilarious!). I have had this Fred Flinstone costume in the back of my mind ever since.
If you are in the market for an easy DIY Halloween costume, look no further! This Fred Flinstone costume works great for both kids and adults, is inexpensive, and is simple to put together. Win/win/win!!
Check it out and let me know what you think!
DIY Fred Flintstone Costume
What You'll Need:
Orange Shirt (several sizes too big)
Black Felt – 2 sheets
Teel Fabric – 1/4 yard
Hot Glue
Scissors
Black Temporary Hair Color
Throwing together this DIY Fred Flintstone costume couldn’t be more simple.
First, cut the sleeves and collar off of the orange shirt. You want the frayed look of a man who spends his days working in a rock quarry.
Next, you will want to cut the bottom of the shirt. Try to make it as jagged and triangle shaped as possible.
Cut out black shapes and hot glue them to the orange shirt. I don’t foresee us wearing this costume more than a few times throughout the Halloween season, so I wasn’t concerned with how it would hold up in the washing machine. If this is something you are concerned about, use an iron adhesive to attach the black spots.
Lastly, tie the teal fabric as you would a suit tie and you are done!
