Hi Friends,
‘Tis the season for gifts, gifts, and more gifts. I try to remind myself that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season,” but let’s be real, all the people in my life still expect presents.
I don’t know about you, but I have a pretty lengthy list of people I want to buy for. My kids are the easiest people to buy for. They want anything that is advertised on a TV. Check out my Christmas Gift Guide for Kids.
Everyone else can be a little more difficult. This includes the rest of my family, teachers, bosses, co-workers, and the different gifts required for the different holiday parties. What I have learned is it isn’t always about the dollar amount spent on a gift that makes it a “good gift,” but rather the amount of thought and consideration that makes a gift great. Did it come from the heart or was it just a good deal on Black Friday?
For this reason, I wanted to create a list of my favorite gifts under $20. Like I said, spending a lot of money doesn’t automatically make something a good gift! Hopefully this list inspires you or gives you a few ideas for the people on your shopping list this Christmas season!
Besides, you can always amp up a less expensive gift by using a cute presentation and beautiful wrapping.
This list is meant to be used as a guide for inspiration and ideas. You can find most of these things at any store. However these links are affiliate links, which means I will receive compensation from anything bought from the links provided at no additional cost to you.
Gifts Under $20
Candles
I know a candle feels a little bit like a cop out, but I can promise you that I am never upset when I receive a candle as a gift. I don't even need an expensive candle to be happy either! My only requirement is that is smells good.
Cheese Board
Do you know someone who loves to entertain? It is always fun to have new serving utensils to "romance the ordinary."
Bath Bombs
I love a nice soak at the end of a long day. Encourage someone you love to participate in a little self-care with a gift of bath bombs.
Diffuser
If you have someone on your list who uses essential oils they will love this little diffuser. I have this one and it is perfect for a bedroom or bathroom.
Pyrex Container filled with Candy
Maybe it makes me old, but I love glass containers for leftovers. Fill one of these with my favorite candy and wrap it in a nice bow and I am happy as can be!
Coffee Mug w/ Starbucks Gift Card
A cute coffee mug with a Starbucks gift card is always a good go-to gift.
Nail Polish w/ Gift Card
A nice nude nail polish is always in style. As a busy mom, I can't remember the last time I bought nail polish, or better yet, went to have a mani/pedi! Throw in a gift card to a local salon and you are set!
Cookie Recipe w/ all ingredients
Are you known for a cookie or cake recipe? If so, write it out on a recipe card. Attach the recipe card to a basket filled with a few baking tools, i.e. silpat baking mat or a liquid measuring cup.
Clip-On Bluetooth Speaker
For someone who is always outside or likes to listen to music when he/she is out and about!
Succulents
Plant a few of these cuties in a nice dish or a beautiful pot and you have yourself a lovely gift that will last for a long time!
Reusable Baggies w/ Candy
A great gift for parents or the environmentalist in your life. Step it up a notch and fill the bags with some of his/her favorite candies.
Board Games
A fun, new party game is always a good idea. Added bonus, it gives everyone something to do once all the gifts have been opened.
I mentioned this earlier, but just because a gift is under $20 doesn’t mean it isn’t a nice gift. Some of my favorite gifts are the less expensive items I have received that I didn’t know I wanted.
Ways to Amp Up Gifts under $20
- Use plenty of tissue paper. Just when you think you have enough, add a few more sheets.
- Always, ALWAYS finish with a bow. Even a gift bag can benefit from the addition of a bow or ribbon.
- Use part of the gift as the packaging, for example I mention buying Pyrex bowls. Fill those bowls with the recipients favorite candy. Put a bow on top of the Pyrex bowl or place the bowl in a gift bag. Either way, it looks a lot nicer than just tossing a bag of candy in with the Pyrex dish still in its plastic wrap.
- A nicely wrapped package makes all the difference in the world.
I hope this post about gifts under $20 was useful, helpful, and/or entertaining. Let me know in the comments what your favorite gift under $20 has been.
Until next time,
Julie
