Happy Halloween season! Have you seen a sign on your neighbor or co-worker’s door that read “You’ve Been Boo’d” and wondered what that means? Well, you are in luck! Today I am going to teach you “How To Boo“! (Sounds like a dance move, but trust me, it isn’t!)

What does it mean to “Be Boo’d“? It’s simple. It means someone left a cute little surprise for you with a sign that says “You’ve Been Boo’d“.

It’s a cute, relatively new, Halloween tradition. It is perfect for neighborhoods and/or the workplace. The key here is to be festive, secretive, and to have fun!

How To "Boo" Your Neighbor

Now let’s get into the how. “How to Boo”…

(“How to Boo” is hilarious thing to type, by the way)

How to Boo

Fill a bag with a few Halloween goodies. The bag can be any size, any shape, any style.
Print the “You’ve Been Boo’d” sign.
Place the sign and the bag of goodies on your neighbor’s doorstep without them seeing you.
The person you left the goodies for will then have 2 days to make a copy of the sign, hang one on his/her door, and give the other one away.

Cute Treat Ideas

Honestly, the content of the bag doesn’t matter as much as the act of receiving the bag. However, if you are going to go through the trouble of “booing” someone, you want them to enjoy it!

Normally I would encourage homemade treats, like these. However, 2020 doesn’t seem to be the time or place for homemade good. Instead, I am going to encourage you to fancy up store-bought goodies (check this out for inspiration).

In fact, it doesn’t even have to be food. It can be anything you think the receiver will enjoy. A candle, a lotion, a lottery ticket, etc. Just have fun with it!

Why limit the fun to Halloween? Give your friends & neighbors a Thanksgiving surprise, too! Now, Christmas already gets the lion’s share of the fun.
