5 Spring Art Projects For Kids

Easter Rocks

Easy Spring Crafts For Kids
  • Gather a few landscaping rocks
  • Places to find rocks:
    • Nature walk
    • Near a lake or stream
    • Your own yard (Do not take from anyone else’s yard without asking!)
  • Use Kwik Stix to decorate the rocks and make them look like Easter Eggs

Salt Dough Eggs

Salt dough egg ornaments are super cute and super easy.  Check out this post by Adventures of a DIY Mom for all the details!

  • Make your salt dough by mixing 2 C flour with 1/2 C salt and adding 3/4 C warm water.
  • Roll out your dough to a ¼ inch layer then use an egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your easter eggs.  Be sure to add a hole at the top for a string if you want to hang them from a branch.
  • Let the eggs fully dry before painting.
  • Once dry, use Kwik Stix paint stix to create beautiful Easter egg ornaments.
  • Add a string and display!

I used this same salt dough recipe for DIY Christmas ornaments.  Find more DIY Christmas ornament ideas here

Color Easter Eggs

Easy Spring Crafts For Kids
  • Hard boil eggs (Click here for instructions on how to hard boil eggs)
  • Use Kwik Stix to decorate the eggs.
  • Note:  Let the eggs get to room temperature before painting.  If the eggs are straight from the refrigerator they will sweat and make it difficult for the paint to dry.

Paper Plate Crafts

Inexpensive.  The perfect “rainy day” project to give the kids something to do for a few minutes.

Pot Painting

  • Buy terracotta pots.  You can find them at big box stores, craft stores, etc.
  • Use Kwik Stix to decorate pots
  • Paint over the pot with 1-2 layers of Modge Podge to prevent the paint from washing away.  I used regular Modge Podge, however, I think Outdoor Modge Podge will hold up better against the outside elements
