This week for Try It Tuesday I wanted to give one of these Amazon Heatless Hair Curlers a try. I have seen a version of this heatless hair curler all over TikTok and Instagram.
Thisis the one I bought and tried. It came with 2 silk scrunchies and a clip. I found it on Amazon for $8.69 with a 3.5-star review. Honestly, I usually go for a higher-rated item when I am shopping, but I felt like all of the heatless hair curlers look the exact same, so I went with the least expensive option. Was that a mistake? Probably.
The goal is to achieve effortlessly styled hair that is actually little to no effort. As well all know, it takes a lot of work to make your hair look like you didn’t try. I want to graduate from the standard messy-bun to something that looks a little more put-together. A true put-together look is going to take more than just pretty hair, but getting my hair under control is a good first step.
The idea of these Amazon heatless hair curlers is that you wrap your hair around them before you go to bed and when you wake up you have beautiful curly hair.
Was The Heatless Hair Curler Difficult To Use?
No. It didn’t take long and wasn’t difficult at all.
How Did It Feel To Sleep While Wearing The Heatless Hair Curler?
It wasn’t great. Honestly, I was sort of surprised by how much wearing this thing bothered me. I have used several other methods of heatless curling before, but this one was by far the most difficult to sleep in. Perhaps this is where the more expensive options shine. Maybe the more expensive options are more comfortable to sleep in?
A few reasons it could have been uncomfortable:
I secured the curler towards the front of my face. I noticed that most ads for any heatless hair curler show the models wearing it farther back on their heads. This might have made it more comfortable to sleep in, but I don’t see how it would have stayed in through the night.
I bought the Amazon Heatless Hair Curler for long hair. I had a lot of the curler still left at the bottom with no hair around it, so it could be that the curler I bought was the wrong size.
The reviews for this particular item said it was “hard” compared to other brands. I didn’t think it was necessarily hard, but maybe if I had a different curler to compare it to I would think differently. Plus, a more soft curler might have been easier to sleep on.
What Was The End Result?
A big flop. Even more of a flop since it was so uncomfortable to sleep in. My hair was barely curled when I woke up, mostly because it had almost completely fallen out.
Do I recommend The Amazon Heatless Hair Curlers?
Nope. Absolutely not. Not only did it fail to curl my hair, the scrunchies were completely stretched out after one use.
