Halloween Tic Tac Toe: Easy Halloween Games

Halloween Tic Tac Toe: Easy Halloween Games

Hi guys! Today I’m sharing a super simple, super fun way to add a little bit of Halloween flair to your next tic tac toe game.  You may not even realize you need Halloween flair added to your next Tic Tac Toe game, but you do!  When October comes (*cough* or September *cough*) around EVERYTHING needs a little spooky touch if you ask me!

This past April my kids used Kwik Stix to paint a few rocks like Easter Eggs.  They turned out really cute!  Since Halloween is drawing near, I have made it my mission to make a Halloween-inspired version of everything.  This brings me to Halloween Tic Tac Toe.  Halloween Tic Tac Toe uses Halloween-themed painted rocks in place of the traditional Xs and Os!  Fun, right?

Halloween Tic Tac Toe

Halloween Tic Tac Toe is played the exact same way as traditional Tic Tac Toe.  the only difference is that instead of using X’s and O’s as markers you use Halloween-painted rocks.

Supplies

The supplies for this project are simple.  You need paint, paintbrushes, rocks, and sealant.  Any size rocks will work for this game, just try to make them all similar in size.

Where do you find rocks?   I bought my rocks on Amazon (here), but you can use rocks you find in your yard, rocks you find on a hike, or you could check a store like Home Depot or Lowes.

How To Paint Rocks

The painting of the rocks is totally up to you! In the past, I have used Kwik Stix to paint rocks.  Kwik Stix are great if you have younger kids who want to help.  They are easy to use, fast-drying, and washable.  However, if you use Kwik Stix the paint will eventually wash off.  I’m sure if you sprayed a sealant over the  Kwik Stix paint it would hold it in place better, but I haven’t tried it.  If you have, let me know how it turned out!

For my  rocks, I chose to use acrylic paint.  It’s what we had on hand.

Choosing the design was tough.  There are so many cute Halloween designs to choose from – ghosts, pumpkins, monsters, etc! I wanted something simple, bright, and bold.  I opted for a ghost and candy corn for my game pieces.

Game Board

The beauty of this Tic Tac Toe game is that it can be played anywhere.  Use a stick to draw a game board in the dirt, use chalk on the sidewalk, or you can draw it on a piece of paper to play inside.
