Hi, friends! My sweet little niece is turning 2 years old in just a few short weeks. Shopping for the perfect birthday gift is proving to be tricky. I want to get her something fun, that she will love, while also keeping in mind that she would be happy with a roll of tape.
I am stuck on this idea of a board game. Board games make great gifts for almost any age (including 2-year-olds!). They last a long time and encourage family togetherness. I have such great memories of playing games with my family growing up.
Board games created for 2-year-olds are unique in that they usually don’t have a winner. Their whole purpose is to introduce toddlers to the concept of taking turns, rolling dice, spinning spinners, etc. Peaceable Kingdom and HABA are the heavy hitters when it comes to games for toddlers.
I’ve pulled together a list of 10 board games that any 2-year-old would love! Some I have played myself, like My First Orchard, and we have played these games beyond the 2-year-old mark.
Benefits of Board Games For 2-Year-Olds
Social Skills. Learning how to take turns and follow directions.
Family Time. Games encourage meaningful connections between you and your child.
Gross Motor Skills. Many of these games involve getting up and moving around.

1. GET UP FOR PUP
Roll the dice, spin the spinner, and feed each of the pups a bone.
A cooperative board game that allows children to work together as a team. Roll the dice and pick the matching fruit from the orchard before the raven makes it down the path to steal it all. If the players harvest all the fruit before the raven reaches the orchard, they win together! If the raven gets there first, they lose together.
