15 Of The Best Board Games For Preschoolers

Family game night is the quintessential family activity, right?  Does anything sound more wholesome than a family gathering around the dinner table eating pizza, playing games, and laughing?  I sure can’t think of anything.  #familygoals, am I right?!

However, achieving the picture-perfect family game night isn’t as easy as it looks.  Getting everyone in the same place at the same time, getting them off of their devices, and agreeing on a game to play is a mighty feat!  It can be especially hard when you have preschool-aged children in the picture.  They want to be part of the group, but it can be difficult to find games that they are able to play.   They can’t read, they haven’t quite grasped the concept of taking turns, and they usually don’t have a long attention span.

The best way I have found to include your preschooler into any family game night is by playing games geared toward preschoolers at the beginning of the night then, when they lose interest with their short attention spans, move to the games more suited for adults and older kiddos.

I have touched on our favorite games before, but it was in a series I used to do called “Friday Five” so I was limited to only 5 of our favorite games.  There are way more than 5 games that are fun for preschoolers. Today I am sharing 15 of the best board games for preschoolers.  Not only will your preschooler be happy playing these games, but I think everyone else around the table will have a little fun as well!

Here are what I have found to be the best board games for preschoolers.  I love these games because they don’t require reading, they teach kids to take turns and count, and, best of all, it doesn’t take long to finish a game.  Kids have very short attention spans, so short games are a must!

A classic beginner board game.  Players take turns picking fruit.  The first to pick all the fruit off of his/her tree is the winner.

A cooperative board game that teaches kids how to work together as a team.  Clear all the fruit from the trees as a team before the crow gets to the gate!

Players spin the spinner and make their way up the ladders and down the chutes.  First player who makes it all the way to the top wins!

Players race through Candyland encountering all sorts of sweet destinations.  First player to the castle wins the game!

Players take turns as they build the cutest Cootie bug you’ve ever seen!

A cooperative board game where players work as a team to get all the owls into the nest before the sun rises.  Can be made more or less difficult depending on how many owls you choose to play with.

Players take turns removing noodles trying not to let the Yeti fall into the bowl.  The player who makes the Yeti fall loses.

A game that helps improve your child’s concentration, memory, and concentration.

Players take turns feeding the pig burgers.  As the pig’s belly grows it gets closer and closer to popping.  The player who causes the pigs belt to pop loses.

Stick your fingers up Louie’s nose to pick his boogers.  Just don’t be the one who makes his head pop off!!

Which hippo can eat the most marbles?

Spin and be the first to completely set up your picnic lunch to win.

Blockbeard can’t set sail until his boat is packed up.  Don’t be the one to cause everything to fall!

Players use the fishing poles to pull the fish out of the shark’s mouth – try not to get bit!!

Ask up to 10 questions to guess the animal on the card.

So there you have it, 15 of the best board games for preschoolers.  If you haven’t tried one or more of these games I definitely encourage you to do so.  They are each so much fun!!
