The dreaded family photo!! I love my pictures! The family photo is definitely something I prioritize every year (much to the displeasure of Grant and the kids).
Family photo sessions can be so stressful! First of all, they are usually expensive. Not only is the session itself expensive, but finding all the cute coordinating, but not too matchy, outfits can cost a lot of money too!! Fear not my fellow family photo lovers! Today I am sharing a few tips to make your next family photo session a little less stressful!
Tips For Taking Family Photos
- Coordinate your outfits, but don’t be too matchy. I try to find one outfit I love then pick similar colors for the other outfits.
- Choose colors that compliment each other. Are you familiar with color theory? This interactive color wheel can help you!
- Choose colors that go with the colors in your home. If the end goal is to have these photos displayed in your home, it would be nice if they worked with the color scheme of your home.
- Use incentives, which is really just a fancy name for bribe. “If you smile for the pictures we can go get ice cream!!”
- Try to choose a time when everyone is in a good mood. For example, don’t choose your regular nap time or meal time.
- Always bring snacks! However, make sure you choose snacks that aren’t messy and that don’t stain clothes or mouths.
